12 (Low-Stress) Ways to Date your Kids!

Mama Needs Blog

Some of my most “filled-up” moments have included my kids. Now, you may be thinking, “But isn’t the point of self-care to be alone?” Yes and no. It depends on you, what you need and what your kids need.

I love spending time with my kids but not all day, everyday. No, thank you. They need a break from ME sometimes! Ha!

When we are together, I try to make it count. I love watching them experience new things, seeing them learn and grow and be brave! It doesn’t have to be extravagant trips or vacations, either! I love doing really easy things right in our own house or community.

Here are T W E L V E fun, easy and cheap things to do with your kids that will fill you ALL up!

  1. Have a movie night! Pop some popcorn, dim the lights, make a fort with blankets and pillows, snuggle up and enjoy!
  2. Go outside and do a nature scavenger hunt! Don’t go crazy – if you have little kids, they will be easily entertained. Tell them to find a rock, a stick, leaves, whatever you think will keep them busy and happy!
  3. Ride bikes!
  4. Bake cookies or make something fun together in the kitchen! If this stresses you out, then choose something else!
  5. Get out the coloring books and crayons and spend some time coloring together!
  6. Get in the car and tell your kids you’re taking them somewhere special and surprise them with a milkshake or whatever is their favorite!
  7. Go through the car wash! My kids love this!
  8. Play a game; board game, cards, nerf gun fight, whatever you guys like to do!
  9. Volunteer together at your church or a local charity.
  10. Simply cuddle together. This is my youngest son’s love language!
  11. FaceTime with friends or family!
  12. Read their favorite books!

There are so many more ways to enjoy your kids! Find out what they love and what will keep overwhelm and stress low for you and just have fun! 🙂

Self-care is for kids, too!
