Our August theme is Customer Appreciation Month so all month long we are excited to do a weekly “Customer Spotlight”. So, we are highlighting 4 different customers who have been loyal and really “get it” – get our mission, passionate about self-care, and made the decision that they matter!

Our first Customer Spotlight is Kathy Austin who has been a customer since 2020!

1. Tell us your name, where you live, a little about your family and what you do.​

My name is Kathy and I live in the foothills of NC. I’m a mom of 2, small business owner (Bits of Joy founded in 2011) and recently started working at a local Chamber of Commerce as a Communications & Projects Specialist in January. I love empowering others, especially women, with providing them resources and knowledge on running a business!

2. What made you subscribe to the Mama Needs Box? ​

I saw another NC small business owner’s products shared in one of the boxes (All She Wrote Notes) and thought the box idea was new and something different I hadn’t seen before! Also loved that Mama Needs Box was NC based and that the owner features other small businesses.

3. Why is self-care important to you? ​

I always put the kids first and it wasn’t until I started therapy a few years ago that I learned that I need to make time for myself too, and that that was okay. I also have a go-go-go personality and am always looking for things to do, so self care forces me to slow down sometimes! You can’t exactly put a face mask on and try to wash the dishes at the same time.

4. What have been some of your favorite box themes AND products we’ve included?

5. How do our boxes help you be a better Mama/Wife/Human? ​

I’m forced to use stuff I have my eye on but wouldn’t normally splurge on for myself! I discover new brands/products and end up supporting other small businesses. Also, a lot of the products are bright and fun and seeing them daily around the house makes me happy.

6. If a Mama reading this was thinking of subscribing to the box, what would you tell her?

Do it! The themes are always so fun and it’s nice to get something for yourself and not have to feel like you have to share with your kids.
