I am living my best Fall weather life out here in western North Carolina, you guys. This is the time of the year I live for! I was born in October but grew up in Miami so I never got to truly enjoy the season till I went off to college!
When I think of Fall, I think of cooler temps, hot beverages, blankets, sweaters, etc. If “being cozy” was a class, I would get a 100% every time. Cozy is my love language.
So, I’ve got a few ways to start getting cozy using our 5 senses! Even if you’re reading this in South Florida, Arizona, the Pacific Northwest, even Hawaii…wherever you are, start taking notes!
1. SEE: Start making your home a cozy oasis. I love Myquillyn Smith aka The Nester, for moments like this when seasons change and you want to start decorating your house! Her new book, “Welcome Home: A Cozy Minimalist Guide to Decorating and Hosting All Year Round” is the perfect coffee table book to help you figure out what to do/what not to do when decorating for any season! (Pssst…It’s $10 off right now – go grab it!)
2. TASTE: You need a hot beverage. Listen, I love coffee but there is something about a hot cup of tea or apple cider that gets me in the cozy mood. Tea Drops are my absolute favorite way to drink tea because there are literally 3 steps: heat up water in your favorite Fall mug, drop in the Tea Drop and drink. It is already sweetened and every single flavor is amazing. Use my code: BA-jenn20 at Tea Drops to get 20% off your order!
3. SMELL: Light a candle. Again, it may be 100 degrees where you live but it’s never a bad idea to light that fall candle. Our sense of smell is one of our strongest links to emotions and memories. Here a few candle companies I love to use! Some have been in our boxes but all are small/female/mama owned businesses!
- Modern Forestry (look for them in an upcoming box but we’ve used them several times)
- Farmer & the Belle (from our May box)
- Nantahala Candles, a local favorite to my town of Franklin, NC (lavender + lemon is my favorite).
4. TOUCH: Put out your blankets. I have blankets out all year and I’m not mad about it. I love this thicker chunky knit one from Target or this thinner herringbone one with fringes also from Target. Throw them on your couch or your favorite chair. If it’s 90 degrees outside, turn your a/c down a bit and get cozy!
5. HEAR: Get the Fall vibes going. I am loving this Fall playlist I found on Spotify from Ashley TerKeurst Hodges (Lysa TerKeurst’s daughter!). I ADORE listening to music while I’m cooking – it makes the task so much more enjoyable!
