✨ SELF-CARE TIP TUESDAY ✨
A dear friend of mine named Maeve reminded me today to slow down and be thoughtful. And it was so good for my soul that I wanted to share it with you so you can do the same.
The question she asked was, “What do you miss?” I’ll ask you the same plus a few more:
-What hurts right now?
-What is bringing you life?
-What do you need?
Name it.
What I miss: Because my kids are older (11, 8, 5), I have more freedom, I have found myself again. But now I find myself missing the old days when they were babies. Crazy, right? If you have babies now, you will miss it too, believe it or not!
I miss my daughter and her pig tails at 3 years old bossing us around in her sweet high-pitched voice.
I miss my middle son’s belly laughs that only his big sister could bring out.
My little one is just 5 and I am soaking up all of his innocence and cuteness because I know how fleeting it is.
What hurts right now: The pain and shame of clothes not fitting the way they used to, of the constant reminder that my postpartum x3 body will never look like it used to. Yes, I need to take care of my health (which I am), but I also need to accept who she is. She is beautiful and she has done amazing things. It hurts but I am learning to love her.
What’s bringing me life: To be honest, not having a schedule is life-giving right now. Moving slower, being intentional and not stressed. It’s all working for me right now.
What I need: A vacation…:) And not just because it’s our July box theme. This Mama really needs a vacay and I have one planned with my hubby for our 15th anniversary. Our celebration is not canceled because of COVID-19!
Now you go. Grab a journal and a pen and answer these questions sometime today or this week. Name it.
